General

Reculver is a quiet coastal hamlet located 4 miles from the seaside town of Herne Bay. Accessed by the Thanet Way (A299) between Herne Bay and St. Nicholas at Wade /Margate by car. Train, coach and bus stations are located in central Herne Bay and buses are available to Reculver twice a day, taxis are also readily available from these points of arrival.

Reception

Reception is accessed by 2 steps, plans for a ramp are in progress, and a manual 33” (84cm) door. A flat, gravel car park for customers only is directly opposite the entrance. Reception is manned throughout opening hours and staff readily available with the use of a radio system. The Park Warden lives on the Park and is available in case of emergency after hours.

Park Roads, Car Parks & Caravan Access

The roads within the Park boundary are all on one level, flat and concreted. There is a speed limit of 5 mph across the Park, with one low level speed ramp. The Park can be accessed only by residents and holiday makers after 5:30pm by car, as we have a secure card operated barrier in place at both entrances and exits.  
Designated parking areas are flat and gravel surfaced, all caravans are within a minute walk from these areas.
Caravans are accessed on concrete paths on the majority of the Park, some require a short traveling distance over level grass.   

Holiday Units

We offer six holiday lets on the Park of three standards: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each of these are accessed by two-three step units, with average door widths of 27” (69cm) and are therefore not suitable for visitors confined to a wheelchair: internal door widths are 18”- 20” (46cm - 51cm). Facilities in the caravans include: one double and one twin bedrooms, with extra sleeping for two on a pull out sofa-bed; full size cooker; microwave; larder fridge; colour TV; iron; and a DVD player in the Silver and Gold caravans. All caravans have a walk-in shower (not at floor level) in the main bathroom and flushing toilets. Check-in is between the hours of 2pm and 5pm, other arrangements can be made in advance if necessary. We offer two caravans with close proximity parking for those with limited mobility, please mention this when booking.

Clubhouse

The Clubhouse is open throughout the March 1st - October 31st season. It is all on one level with the ground, with flat, double door entry and exit. The floors are carpeted in the main bar, with a wooden dance floor in the function room. We have a disabled toilet and a large part-paved, part-grassed beer garden. Our guests are also welcome to use The Blue Dolphin Park Clubhouse, which also offers disabled access and is open at the weekend throughout the March 1st - January 31st year.

Laundry

The laundry room, with two washing machines and two tumble dryers, is located on a flat gravel surface off the main Park road. It can be accessed by either ramp or two steps. There is a small ridge on the floor into the room, door width is 28” (73cm).

Mobile phones

Network coverage is sporadic across the Park on all network providers. There is a public telephone just outside the Park entrance.

Disabled Assistance

The local Mobility Shop brochure is available from Reception, which details hiring facilities if required.
Only assistance dogs are permitted - otherwise we operate a strict no dogs policy on the Park, and no pets in our holiday homes.

Services Local to the Park

The local cafe and shop adjacent to the Park both have disabled access, and ample room for wheelchair users. There is concrete ramped access to the local Reculver Information Centre, as well as the Towers.
